heavily cast and finely chased sterling silver chalice in a rich Gothic-Revival style, the cup with a wide band of grapevines and leaves in high relief, resting on a tapering stem decorated with matching foliate motifs, the broad circular base features applied relief scenes including a Crucifixion panel framed by grapevines and clusters of grapes, the underside engraved: “Ordination Gift from Mother Bridget of the Blessed Sacrament, O.S.B., Monastery of St. Scholastica, Chicago, IL, to Rev. Dominic M. Chonko, O.S.B., March 20, 1943” Stamped “PIANA / STERLING / 925 1000”
