Provenance: Sotheby’s, New York, Important Americana, Sale 5551, January 28-30, 1987, lot 1066, sold for $18,700 including buyer’s premium.
Note: A related work from Chambers’ Nahant series, View of Nahant (Sunset), was offered in the same Sotheby’s Important Americana sale in 1987 and later sold at Christie’s, New York, January 20, 2022, lot 149, for $437,500, establishing a world auction record for the artist. Only five paintings from Chambers’ Nahant series are known.
