South German Linden Wood Figure of Christ Crucified, Early 16th Century
A finely carved late Gothic linden wood Corpus figure of Christ, His thorn-crowned head inclined to the left. The emaciated torso is rendered with sharply defined ribs and abdomen, the lower body draped in a deeply folded perizomium. The legs are crossed at the ankles. This figure was originally part of a larger crucifix group
