Federal Mahogany and Inlaid Card Table
New England, Early 19th Century
A Federal mahogany card table, the hinged D-shaped top with rosewood-banded inlaid edge, opening to a plain mahogany interior. The frieze with satinwood oval panel and lightwood stringing, raised on square tapering legs.
height 29 inches, top closed 18″ x 36″, top open 36″ x 36″
Provenance: Purchased in 1972 for $950; said to have belonged to the F. Shattuck family, Boston, Massachusetts, formerly of Battenmore, Massachusetts.
Condition: Refinished surface; minor age cracks, scuffs, and light wear consistent with age and use.
