A large marine portrait, possibly the clipper Ellen Austin, depicted under full sail with identifying American flags against a cloudy sky and distant vessels on the horizon. Presented in an ornate giltwood frame with arched liner and inscribed presentation plaque inscribed “Clipper Ship / Built by E.D. Hurlbut, Albany, N. York.”
