“Rain” Monkey with Umbrella Table Lamp, 1925
A whimsical Art Deco table lamp by Max Le Verrier, inspired by the artist’s observations of monkeys at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris and awarded a medal at the Salon des Humoristes, Paris, 1927. Cast in antique-green patinated iron, the seated monkey clasps the upright pole supporting its original frosted glass umbrella shade. Raised on a hexagonal base of veined black marble.
Patinated cast iron, frosted glass, and marble; electrified.
