Signed lower right, titled, and dated 1959 on verso along with 1981 letter from Mrs. Walter Hemingway, Madison, Connecticut, noting that the work was commissioned directly from the artist as a recreation of his painting used for the National Academy’s Christmas card, the letter further recalls Wiggins’ friendship with the Hemingways, his residence in Lyme, Connecticut, and identifies the subject as hansom cabs opposite Central Park

Condition:

Good condition overall. Inpainting to bottom left corner, some craquelure.
