Chapin School Chippendale Cherry Highboy with Ball-and-Claw Feet
Windsor, Connecticut Area, 18th Century
An 18th-century cherry highboy in two parts, the upper case with broken-arch pediment terminating in rosettes, above a central long drawer with carved scroll design flanked by two short drawers, over four graduated long drawers. The lower case with a central fan-carved drawer flanked by two short drawers, raised on cabriole legs ending in ball-and-claw feet. Retains an old red finish and exhibits regional characteristics associated with the Windsor, Connecticut school.

Condition: Three drawers chipped on the right side; one key escutcheon broken off; brasses original; surface wear and age cracks consistent with age and use.
