miniature serpentine-front commode, constructed in wood and carton-pierre / papier-mâché, the exterior retaining remnants of original painted decoration with traces of architectural and landscape scenes, the lift-off top reveals early internal construction, and the drawers are lined with fragments of handwritten 18th-century letters used in the papier-mâché layering, fitted with original small ring pulls, the piece displays true 18th-century form with shaped top, serpentine façade, and short bracket feet.
