Jacobus Gerritsen Strijcker Strycker 1619-1687 oil on oak panel 17th century portrait bust of Claes Thyssen b. 1588-1658, written on reverse Claes Thyssen, New Amsterdam, married April 5, 1655 Agnietje Strycker sister of Jacobus. 25 1/2 x 20 This is an extremely rare painting by Jacobus Strijcker Strycker, prior to this painting there have been only four paintings known to be painted by the artist. These paintings include 1 Self Portrait which is still owned by the descendants of Jacobus Strijcker Strycker and is currently being exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2 Portrait of Jan Strycker brother of artist and 3 Portrait of Adriaen van der Donck both in private collections and have never been offered for sale, and 4 Portrait of Governor Peter Stuyvensant Currently at the New York Historical Society.
