Cooper, a well known circumnavigator of the globe. It was one of a set bought by him from Portugal 130 years ago while on one of his voyages 1893. Notes: A closely related chair, with a history of descending in the Silsbee-Derby-Crownenshield Families, is in the collection of the Peabody Essex Museum. Another set is in The White House.
